Tried restoring my iPhone 11 on Windows 11 with the Apple Devices app and halfway it just stops with error 1109. Every single time it kicks me back into recovery screen. Nothing else is running on my pc please tell me what actually works to fix this?

  1. I ran into the same nightmare with error 1109 while trying to restore my iPhone 14 on a Windows 11 PC using Apple Devices. At first I thought it was just my internet or antivirus messing things up, so I tried turning off NordVPN, disabling AVG, clearing cookies, restarting the PC… same result every time. The restore would get halfway and then throw the 1109 code.
After wasting hours, I gave 3uTools a shot put the phone into DFU mode, added the ipsw, and ran Smart Flash with the “fix battery health” option ticked. To my surprise, it finally went through. Took a couple of attempts, but the phone booted back up and I could restore from iCloud.
Honestly, this feels like something Apple should fix on their end. People shouldn’t have to rely on third-party tools just to get past their own errors.

  2. Restore keeps failing with error 1109. I’m on Windows 11, iTunes latest version. Is it my computer or is it Apple’s servers? Feels like I’ve tried every trick already

  3. How the hell do you get past error 1109 on restore? Phone is basically a brick right now. I’ve tried hotspot, VPN, different PCs. Still fails. Please tell me someone has a solid fix.

  4. I wasted a whole weekend trying cables, hotspots, reinstalling iTunes and nothing worked. Finally I gave up and booked a slot at the Apple Store. They hooked my iPhone up to one of their Macs and pushed the update through recovery mode. It went straight to the latest iOS and all my stuff was still there afterwards.
The tech guy said sometimes error 1109 just pops up because of connection hiccups or even something as silly as a flaky USB port. He didn’t give a clear answer, just that it’s not unusual. If you don’t have an Apple Store close by, I’d say borrow a different computer (Mac or even another Windows machine) and give it a try, because that’s what ended up saving me.

  5. I ran into this same mess with my iPhone 15 when I was trying to restore it after forgetting the passcode. Kept throwing that 1109 error on Windows.
    What finally worked for me:

    • hooked my PC to a hotspot from another phone (my home Wi-Fi just wouldn’t do it)
    • restarted the Apple Devices app
    • did a forced restart on the iPhone and reconnected it using a USB-C to USB-A cable (the USB-C to USB-C one that comes with the phone never worked for me)
    • kept trying the restore prompts until it actually went through

Not gonna lie, it took me like 6–7 tries and I was about ready to give up, but eventually it finished and the phone booted up normally again.
I couldn’t get itunes to work at all  it never showed me the restore option, so Apple Devices was the only way.
Hope this helps someone else stuck in the same spot. It’s super frustrating when every solution online gets too technical and doesn’t actually fix it.

  6. Man I was stuck on this stupid error 1109 forever. Tried restoring my iPhone 14 like 10 times on Windows 11, kept failing halfway. Changed cables, restarted, nothing.
Out of frustration I switched my PC over to my phone’s hotspot instead of my home Wi-Fi and boom, it actually finished the restore. No error this time.
So I guess it’s something with the ISP blocking Apple’s servers or whatever, but hotspot worked for me. Kinda ridiculous but at least I got my phone back.
Anyone else tried this and had it work?

  7. Don’t know if this helps but Apple Devices never worked for me either. I went back to iTunes. Only catch was iTunes didn’t detect the phone on USB-C to USB-C. Bought a cheap USB-C to USB-A cable and suddenly it picked it up and restored fine with ipsw. Worth trying if you got spare cable.

  8. I ran into the same restore problem on my iPhone, error 1109 kept popping up and sometimes even 4017. I was using Apple Devices on Windows 11 and thought maybe it was my internet or firewall so I tried hotspot, reboot, everything… still failed every time. Out of frustration I borrowed an old laptop with Windows 10, and weirdly it worked fine on the first try.
So it feels like something in Windows 11 is clashing with the restore process. Anyone else noticed that?

  9. I couldn’t get it to finish on 2 different Windows 11 PCs. Same error every time. Tried on an old Windows 10 desktop and it restored first try. No clue why but if you got access to Win10 machine, just do it there and save hours of pain.

  10. I don’t get it. Why does my restore keep failing with error code 1109? I’ve tried both my PC and laptop, different networks, even a hotspot. Do I really have to go to Apple for something that should just work at home?
